Down the street my bicycle I rode an evening
Saw a child alone on the roadside frowning
She, five, was quite against the hustle and bustle
The traffic man busy with the whistle
While I stopped by for a hello with a smile
Expecting the same from her a quick smile
She didn’t, she seemed to have forgotten how to
Because food and home are all she’s into
All she longs for is a home, her home
Here she feels like a Jewish being held captive in Rome
Little did she know she lives a forlorn story
All she knows is she’s thirsty & hungry
What’s coming off with her life she had no notion
She’s merely breathing with no fascination
Maybe her house was burned down
Or she left her hometown shutdown
Maybe she’s parentless and has nobody
And so was looking for somebody
She lives with fear owing to the selfishness of men
Having a joyless life following the ungodliness of men
Heartbreaking to meet a child foodless
Saddening to see a child homeless.
