How do i thank someone i’ve never met?
How do i tell them that i’ll never forget them?
How do i show respect to those whose lives were lost?
How can i ever repay such a terrible cost?
How can i honour the sacrifice, the pain and the bravery?

I do not know you by name nor the promises that were broken,
But i know that you’re the guardian of our motherland and her people
But i know that i shall never write a poem as lovely and true as you.
