Oh Sahumphai, my village so fair,
A Christian haven, with love and care.
Fifty houses stood, a community strong,
But now, only ashes, and a sorrowful song.
June 4, 2023, a day of infamy,
The Meitei's flames, reduced our homes to calamity.
The fire raged on, with no mercy to spare,
Leaving nothing but ruin, and a people bare.
The church, a beacon, where we found our peace,
Now lies in ruins, our worship released.
The streets, once filled, with children's glee,
Are now but a memory, a sight to see.
Oh Sahumphai, how my heart does mourn,
For the loss of our village, our lives torn.
The memories linger, of what once was dear,
Now but a distant echo, a sorrowful tear.
But even in ashes, our faith remains,
A flame of hope, that burns like a refrain.
We'll rise again, from the embers of pain,
And rebuild our village, our love and faith regain.
