The sky peeks dull and pale today
Not-so-happy sirens wail on its way
For a brave son who has been slain
Is carried home to a mother in pain.
Always for her beloved she prayed
She cares for him her hair greyed
Wan and faded she now is waiting
Her beloved's corpse homecoming.
Not a day went without a prayer for him
Now sad and shattered she feels grim
For his bravery she salutes her boy
Placing his nation before his own joy.
He has his legs but couldn't walk
And no more a mouth that can talk
Her ‘Hi Son!’ today is unprecedented
‘Wake up son!’ unreplied and dented.
No calamity hit her harder than this
Exceedingly woeful and tragic it is
Now she realizes she's sonless today
Can only hope to meet again someday.
