Very Easy Questions to the Meitei State Government: Part - 2

SOPHISTICATED ARMS FOR MEITEI POLICE TO ATTACK KUKI-ZOs?

Truth cannot be concealed for long. Meitei Police’s secret procurement of the 7.62mm MMG MK 2A1 came to light when they sent an official request to the Army to provide them training for 3 weeks. So much for the professionalism of the Meitei Police that only after they purchased, they realized that they do not have any trained manpower and now must seek the help of the Army, whose presence in the buffer zones are of utmost importance. The Manipur government, through the Meitei Police, however felt that the Army is better utilized for providing training to the biased police force than controlling the activities of the Arambai Tenggol and the Meitei terrorists.

MMG FOR WHOM?

The Venue of the training, as per the official communication, is at MPTC, Pangei, which is not accessible by the Kuki Zo police. From all the indications, one is tempted to infer that Meitei police will be trained in the use of MMG, as no other training is scheduled for the police of the hill districts.

There are allegations that the Meitei police have started using MMGs to attack the Kuki villages bordering Tronglaobi-Moirang on 06/07.09.2024

ALLOCATION?

The Manipur Police, headed by the Home Minister, has been maintaining total secrecy regarding the allotment of the MMGs. How much for the hill police? How much for the meitei police? How much for the Meitei commandos?

BIAS PROCUREMENT?

What was the rationale given when the proposal for the procurement of these MMGs were discussed? What is the urgent need for procuring them? It is believed that these procurements were made to shoot at the Kukis, as the Meitei police will not shoot at Meitei militants and the Arambai Tenggol.

Even at the peak of Meitei terrorism, the Meitei Police did not bother to purchase MMG to shoot at the Meitei terrorists, but the Home Minister N Biren Singh and the Meitei Police suddenly felt the need to arm the Meitei police with MMGs to shoot and kill the Kuki village guards who are trying hard to control the Meitei terrorists. The job of controlling the Meitei terrorists is now left in the hands of the Kukis, as the Meitei police had failed to control them even as crores of rupees have already been spent by the Meitei police.

One commentator had even suggested that the MMGs are procured so as to hand it over to the Arambai Tenggol and UNLF-MPA when the next looting of the police’s armoury happens.
